VRM 12v Burnout - Stress Testing | |
Continuous rating for both VRM 5v and 12v outputs are ~1.5a.
2a is the momentary peak limit. So, normally what happens when the 12v outputs get a steady 2a load is that the current is simply cut off. However, if this happens a lot and the whole VRM heats up way too much then we get a heat overload. Took 3 minutes, 35 seconds from test start after many other tests heated up the VRM. |

VRM 5v Outage - Stress Testing | |
The VRM 5v output handled continuous over-current (2a) very well by just shutting off the current.
This test was repeated a half dozen times.
