Troubleshooting
In Development- these are mostly rough notes and probably always will be
In general, FIRST provides us with FRC custom versions of standard software products. FRC specific updates are released through the FIRST website.
Beware of confirmation bias while troubleshooting.
This is a common human tendency to first form an opinion or theory, then while fixating on our theory we look for and only pay attention to anecdotal information and "facts" that support our theory, while ignoring or dismissing contradictory evidence.
Instead, make a habit of skepticism, especially of your own gut feelings. Play devil's advocate with yourself. Entertain nagging doubts.
Get in the habit of collecting data, not to prove a point, not haphazardly or from popular rumor, but systematically so you know you aren't skipping over inconvenient counter data.

- Do not download and install similar products from the web.
- Do not install software updates available on the general web. Apply FIRST updates only.
- Do not install generic installation disks that may come packaged with some commercial products.
- Maintain all software & firmware versions that FRC uses. When buying a replacement component be aware that it may have been updated (hardware and/or firmware) and may need to be downgraded to match the FRC tested versions.
